MysticX Android Internal Testing — Installation Guide

📧 First: Send your Google email (Gmail address) to the dev team. We need to add you to the internal tester list before you can receive the invite link and install the app.

Prerequisites

  • An Android phone
  • A Google account (Gmail)
  • A working VPN
  • (Recommended) Google Chrome browser installed on your phone

Step 1: Install Google Play Store

Most Android phones sold in China do not come with Google Play pre-installed. You need to install it manually.

Option A: Via your phone's built-in app store

  1. Open your phone's built-in app store (e.g. Xiaomi App Store, OPPO Software Store, Vivo App Store, etc.)
  2. Search for "Google Play Store" or "Google Play 商店"
  3. If found, download and install it

Option B: Install Google Services Framework (if Option A doesn't work)

Some Chinese-brand phones require Google Services Framework first:

  1. Search your phone's app store for "Google" or "GMS"
  2. Some phones (Xiaomi, OPPO, etc.) have a "Google Installer" or "谷歌服务助手" — download it and follow the prompts
  3. After installation, restart your phone. Google Play Store should appear on your home screen

Huawei phones

Huawei phones (HarmonyOS) may not support Google Play. If you're using a Huawei phone, contact the dev team for a direct APK install.

Step 2: Enable VPN

⚠️ Important: Turn on VPN BEFORE opening Google Play. Keep VPN on for ALL subsequent steps.

  1. Open your VPN app
  2. Connect to an overseas server (Japan, US, Singapore, etc. are recommended)
  3. Confirm the VPN connection is active

Step 3: Log in to Google Play

  1. Open Google Play Store
  2. Sign in with your Gmail account
  3. If prompted to add a payment method (bank card / credit card), tap "Skip" — no payment info is needed
  4. You should now see the Google Play home page

Step 4: Send your Gmail to the dev team

Send your Gmail address (the one you just logged in with) to the dev team. We will:

  1. Add your email to the internal tester list on Google Play Console
  2. Send you an invite link once you've been added

Wait for the dev team to confirm and send you the link before proceeding.

For the best experience opening the invite link, install Google Chrome browser on your Android phone:

  1. Open Google Play Store (VPN must be on)
  2. Search for "Google Chrome"
  3. Install it and set it as your default browser (optional but recommended)

Using Chrome ensures you're logged into Google in the browser, which makes accepting the invite smoother.

Step 6: Accept the test invite

  1. The dev team will send you an invite link, which looks like:
    https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.starailabs.mysticx
  2. Open this link in Google Chrome on your phone (make sure VPN is on)
  3. If the browser asks you to log in to your Google account, log in with the same Gmail you sent to the dev team
  4. The page will show "You've been invited to test MysticX"
  5. Tap "Accept invite" (or "Join")
  6. After accepting, you'll see a "Download it on Google Play" link — tap it

Step 7: Install MysticX

  1. You'll be taken to the MysticX page in Google Play Store
  2. Tap "Install"
  3. If Google Play asks for payment info, tap "Skip" — the app is free
  4. If your phone's system blocks the installation (security warning / unknown source), tap "Allow" or "Install anyway" to proceed
  5. Wait for the download and installation to complete
  6. Open MysticX and start using it!

💡 If you see "App not available" or "Item not found", wait a few minutes and try again. Newly published internal test versions may take a moment to appear on the Play Store.

Daily Updates

We release new versions frequently (nearly every day). To stay up to date:

  1. Turn on your VPN
  2. Open Google Play Store
  3. Tap your profile icon (top-right corner)
  4. Tap "Manage apps & device"
  5. Under "Updates available", check if MysticX has an update
  6. If an update is available, tap "Update"

💡 Tip: You can also enable auto-updates for MysticX: go to the MysticX page in Google Play → tap the menu (top-right) → enable "Auto-update".

FAQ

  • Make sure VPN is on
  • Make sure you're logged into the same Gmail account that was added to the tester list
  • Try opening the link in Google Chrome (not your phone's default browser)

Q: Google Play says "This app is not compatible with your device"?

Take a screenshot and send it to the dev team — we may need to adjust device compatibility settings.

Q: The app crashes on launch?

  • Make sure VPN is connected (the app needs to reach overseas servers)
  • If it still crashes, take a screenshot or screen recording and send it to the dev team

Q: Do I have to add a credit card?

No. MysticX is a free internal test build. Always tap "Skip" when prompted for payment info.

Q: My phone warns me about installing from unknown sources?

This is normal for some phones. Tap "Allow" or "Install anyway". The app is safe — it comes directly from Google Play's internal testing track.

Q: I don't see the update even though a new version was released?

  • Google Play may take 15–60 minutes to roll out updates to internal testers
  • Try force-closing Google Play Store and reopening it
  • Make sure VPN is on
